CheckInReminder, making Forsquare better
If you’re actively using Foursquare you are taking advantage of the incentives received when checking in from certain locations. Be it a restaurant or a cinema, it’s always to your advantage to check-in and get your Foursquare bonus. Of course there are situations when you don’t want to check-in from a certain “location”, as vividly explained here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-HYT2Ajw0s :), but that’s just an exception.
So, how many times did it happen to you to completely forget checking in from a location through Foursquare? I can bet that it happened at least a couple of times, because Foursquare lacks an important feature, check-in notifications.
Here’s where CheckInReminder comes to the rescue! It does compensate for the missing feature in Foursquare, by reminding you to check-in from a certain location. It can be a simply reminder such a short vibration, or a full alarm to be sure you don’t miss the check-in. The principle is simple, you turn CheckInReminder on and it will automatically detect when you’re entering a location that’s likely you’d want to check-in from, popping-up the alarm or the vibration to check-in if you forget to do so.
There’s a neat way of testing how this app works without installing it by visiting this page http://checkin-reminder.net/emulator.php where an emulator (powered by AppSurfer) lets you try the app directly from your browser.
So if you really want to call yourself a Foursquare expert, this app is a must for you (to avoid complaining later about forgetting to check in at Foursquare).
CheckinReminder provides the following features:
- When turned on, it will automatically and quite accurately detect your stay in a certain location
- Notifications if it detects you didn’t checkin (via regular alarm or vibration or even both)
- 1-click checkin to Forsquare
- Tips about the place you’re visiting
- Smart algorithm to save battery life
