Google Pixel 7a summary:

  • Google Pixel 7a variations: Available in Charcoal, Snow, Sea (light blue), and Coral (Google Store only)
  • Google Pixel 7a Announcement Date: May 10, available for purchase immediately
  • Google Pixel 7a Price: Starts at $499, available in stores May 11

With Google’s Pixel 7a launch just around the corner, the tech world is buzzing with anticipation for the successor to the highly popular Pixel 6a. Although the smartphone has yet to be officially unveiled, there is some leaked information revealing details about its specs and price.

Leaked video of Google Pixel 7a in action:

According to Jon Prosser, the Pixel 7a will come with 8GB of RAM and four color options, including a Coral color exclusively available on the Google Store. The phone will also include a dock, making it an even more attractive option for consumers. The biggest change, however, is the price increase, with the Pixel 7a expected to cost $499, a $50 increase over its predecessor.

This increase in price can be attributed to the various improvements and upgrades that the Pixel 7a has. These include a 64MP main sensor and 13MP ultrawide shooter, an upgrade from the Pixel 6a’s 50MP sensor. The phone will also feature a new 90Hz display and wireless charging capabilities, which may explain the slight price hike.

Despite the price increase, Google is not abandoning Pixel 6a. That will remain available at a reduced price, providing consumers with a more budget-friendly option if they don’t need the new Pixel 7a perks.

Google Pixel 6a

Although no official release date has been announced, it is rumored that Google Pixel 7a will be announced on May 10, during Google I/O event. According to leaked renders, the phone will measure 152.4 x 72.9 x 9 mm and will also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, Sony IMX787 and IMX712 sensors for the rear cameras, and wireless charging support capped at 5W.

While we still have much to learn about the Pixel 7a, the leaks and rumors thus far suggest that it will be another strong contender in the affordable smartphone market. With its upgraded features and sleek design, it is sure to attract many buyers who are looking for a high-quality smartphone without breaking the bank. We’ll just have to wait until May to see if the Pixel 7a lives up to the hype. More details after the public announcement will be available here: What’s new in Google Pixel 7?

Google Pixel Fold summary:

  • Google Pixel Fold Announcement Date: May 10
  • Pre-order from Google Store: May 10
  • Pre-order from partners / carriers: May 30
  • Publicly Available: June 27
  • Google Pixel Fold Price: $1,800 (not a typo)

Here’s a video of it in action:

With Pixel 7a Google will also announce their first foldable smartphone, Google Pixel Fold. This is a highly anticipated release, however there’s still no public information about this, just leaked details. Jon Prosser claims Google Pixel Fold won’t begin shipping until June 27, several weeks after I/O and the Pixel 7a’s launch, which will apparently be on May 10.

There are other sources saying availability after May 15. Last year, Pixel 6a was delayed release until 2 months after I/O 2022, so hopefully it won’t be the case with Google Pixel Fold as well.

While pricing for Google Pixel Fold is still a rumor, Prosser claims it will cost a staggering $1,799. There are other rumors mentioning prices between $1,300 and $1,500, but still quite a hefty price for a foldable phone. I cap my smartphone purchases at $600 so this won’t be for me anyway, I guess new technology innovations come with a cost for early adopters.
