I updated my Duolingo app for Android this month (October 2024) and then it crashed. Thing is, it didn't show any errors or anything, I would tap on Duolingo, the Duo logo would show up and then a quick yellow window before closing by itself. In a split of a second, the Duolingo app would close as soon as opening it.
I've just received an email from Duolingo, that I've been using it to study languages for 10 years. Imagine that, I have created an account with them in 2014 and have been using it since (well, with a gap of about 5 years).
I became a Duolingo Free user in 2015. Actually back then there wasn't even a paid option, it was truly free. Back then I started learning German, and even if I didn't advance too much, I could say that it helped me learn some basics. Don't ask me why though, but after a few months I stopped playing with it and never picked it up again until 2023. Boy, did it change a lot in the past 7 years. I wish I'd say it was a good change, but unfortunately I consider Duolingo Free sucks (the 2023 version that is) in comparison with the app I toyed around with in 2016.
If you've ever tried learning a new language in the past 5 years, I'm sure you've heard of Duolingo. This is an app (Android, web and the other) that is meant to be a helpful tool when trying to learn a new language. It helps you by using gamification to keep you focused on your learning goal. Has daily quests, chests, friends that you can connect with, competing leaderboards and much more. In essence, if you want an auxiliary tool to help you learn a new language, Duolingo should be on your list.
