Google launched Pixel Pro 7a and Pixel Fold on May 10th, 2023. The month is not even over and there’s already rumours of Google Pixel Pro 8’s release date, specs and price.

Google Pixel 8 Pro, part of the upcoming Pixel smartphone series, is expected to launch later this year. A leaked video by 91mobile revealed the Pixel 8 Pro’s design details, including a punch-hole front camera and a pill-shaped module housing three rear cameras.

The Pixel 8 Pro features a unique addition, a built-in infrared thermometer sensor below the LED flash, allowing contactless temperature measurement. The leaked Pixel 8 Pro video showed basically how to use the thermometer sensor in it:

  • Locate the white sensor on the back and bring the Pixel 8 Pro close to the forehead
  • Don’t touch the skin with it, just close enough to be able to read data
  • Tap the start button, and move the phone toward the temple within five seconds to measure the temperature

It seems this will be the core new feature in Pixel 8 Pro. The built-in thermometer will be exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro and will also be able to measure the temperature of objects. Data collected by the thermometer will be stored locally and handled through the Android Private Compute Core.

Google Pixel 8 Pro release date

Unofficially, it will be launched sometime in October 2023. Makes sense to release it in the autumn, that’s when sales are stronger.

Google Pixel Watch 2

The new watch is likely to feature a new chip for enhanced performance and longer battery life, potentially an Exynos chipset or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1.

Software updates are also anticipated, including the integration of Google’s Material You design language and an updated version of Wear OS with new fitness tracking features.

Some design elements, such as the dome-shaped face and thick bezels, may remain unchanged from the original Pixel Watch.

Compatibility with existing straps is expected, allowing owners of the first-gen Pixel Watch to reuse their bands.
